"To become more familiar with the history of the Verena Gorge, we took a guided tour, giving us the chance to discover the mystical hermitage. This was a place of peace, repose and pure romanticism. Along the path by the Verena stream to the chapels in the hermitage, we were initiated into the secrets of this very special place. The legend of Saint Verena, the first hermit to occupy the cell, dates back to the fourth century. And a lady hermit still lives in seclusion here."
