"After a glorious day of sunshine that made the Franches-Montagnes sparkle, today is a rainy Wednesday. You might say it is raining cats and dogs. My plan to explore the nature reserve at the Etang de la Gruère is literally a washout. I take refuge at the nearby inn and, as the waitress serves me a nice hot chocolate, she advises me to visit the museum at the Nature Centre in Les Cerlatez. Welcomed by the large carved wooden statues, also covered in rain, I set off to discover this rather unusual place. I am grateful to the rain for giving me the chance to experience these strange emotions. The appreciation of the trees that I had seen so many times during my walks on the days beforehand, as well the secrets of these resonant and undulate woods, makes me realise why the locals are so attached to their wooded pastures, not to mention their music!"
