"The largest lake reserve in Switzerland and a natural environment with an exceptional variety of life, the Grande Cariçaie is a little piece of heaven for nature lovers and animal watchers. More than 100 bird species nest here. Besides the reed warblers, water rails and great crested grebes, you can watch the purple heron, kingfisher and bearded tit here. Badger trails are abundant here, as are the frogs including the European tree frog, which makes wonderful music in spring. There is no need for a car to explore the southern shore of Lake Neuchâtel. The reserve is ideal for exploring on foot or by bicycle, in combination with the train and boat."
