"In the clearing at the Champ-Pittet nature reserve, one cannot help wondering how our ancestors might have erected their standing stones. Is the magic potion of the Gauls more than an invention of French comic artists? Getafix would not have far to look for mistletoe here, as the trees are full of it. What Obelix achieved with such ease in the comics must have taken a huge effort in the Bronze Age. When they arrived on moraines in the Ice Age, the blocks weighing up to five tons were first cut into a human-shaped outline. Then they were arranged in two rows and four semicircular groups. Some of the smaller stones can only be seen as concrete casts in Clendy. The originals are exhibited at the museum in Yverdon."
