"The Lake Murten region is a great place for a cycle tour. You can pass through wonderful landscapes: lakeshores, alluvial forests, vegetable fields, vineyards and farmland... and immerse yourself in the historic past of the region by visiting the small medieval town of Murten or the Roman stronghold of Avenches from an even earlier period. Those with weaker legs will also get on fine here, as there are only gentle inclines to overcome around the lake and there are wonderful views to reward you for your efforts. My favourite in fine weather is the view of the Alps including the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau."
