Along the banks of the Doubs

"The thing I remember is that this is one of the most romantic routes you could ever walk. We started out from St-Ursanne and followed the river all the way to Soubey. I love listening to the sound of water − I find it so soothing − so I was always stopping for a while to admire the beauties of nature and watch the subtle changes in the Doubs. I recall that when we were opposite Tariche, we felt thirsty, so we wanted to have a drink. No chance, we thought, because we were on the wrong side of the river. But all we had to do was to shout across, and someone came to our rescue in a little boat: it reminded us somewhat of Venice, when you need to cross a canal − but here we had the marvellous natural backdrop as well!"
