"We hike over the ridge of Mont-Vully (Wistenlacher Berg) between Lake Neuchâtel and Lake Murten, admiring the view of the Jura mountain range and Lake Neuchâtel on our right and the view of Lake Murten and the Alps in the background on our left. After a one-hour ascent starting from Sugiez station, we reached the highest point at 653 m above sea level and enjoyed the unique view of the great peat bog and, on the other side, Lake Murten. From here, the signposted “Sentier Historique du Vully”, which can be hiked in about two hours, leads us through a tranquil, varied landscape past historic sites. Information boards tell us about the Celtic wall, an erratic boulder, fortifications from the time of the border occupation of 1914/18 and a Bernese watchfire, known as a “Chutz”."
