"This beautiful hike leads us away to discover the Grande Cariçaie, the largest lake reserve in Switzerland and an environment with an exceptional diversity of life. This little paradise is home to a third of the plant life and a quarter of the wildlife in Switzerland, including many endangered species. Starting from Estavayer-le-Lac, we set off on our pilgrimage towards Cheyres. Our route passes through the alluvial forests and alongside the reed beds. The croaking of the frogs and the melodious birdsong form a rhythmic backdrop to the walk. Here and there, little hidden beaches reveal themselves. On arrival in Cheyres, we go uphill to reach the first panoramic viewpoint. On the way back, there are lots of mind-blowing views of the lake and the marshlands of the Grande Cariçaie. We hike across the Broye countryside with its orchards all the way to Estavayer-le-Lac."
