"On beautiful winter Sundays, the Mountain of Grenchen is an irresistible lure to walkers. The thick layer of fog that often covers the plateau prompts people to go upwards and rediscover the sunshine. So it is hardly surprising that on the route leading to the Mountain of Grenchen, you will often find congestion on those days. But you should not let that spoil your day. The trip is promising from the start: after just a few metres, you leave the road and find yourself in a dense forest of snow-covered fir trees. An idyllic sight! Narrow but well maintained, the path rises on a slight incline towards the plateau. Then the forest thins out and the wider spaces between the fir trees reveal the distant range of the Alps. Stop, breathe deeply and enjoy the moment."
